It could be argued that without change, there is no story. The ancient alchemists believed that true transformation occurs when we take the prima materia of our lives and drop it into the alembic of our imagination. This weekend, we will introduce our writing material to different alchemical processes that may utterly change its appearance or form. Burn it to ashes. Dissolve. Separate. Conjoin. Ferment. Distill. Coagulate. Perhaps our stories will shine golden in the end. In this intimate and highly participatory retreat, we will explore our personal and collective transformations through conversation, meditation, ritual, divination, and of course, writing portals. This August, we will focus on water and the alchemical operation of Dissolution.

In this circle of therapists you will learn tools and cultural practices from the Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft. Invocation, spellwork, energy raising, trancework, somatics, song, ritual, consensus decision making, circle casting, engaging your will, opening your witches eye, and magical transformation are just some of the tools you will explore. We will speak directly to the parts of your soul that long to make magic in this time, reminding you how. We will build community in affinity because the work of liberation is not the work of one person and because we need each other. We will remember, together, that this is folk magic and that what is needed in this work is simply your body, heart, will and intention. You will leave this class believing in yourself and your magic.

She also works part time at Quest Center for Integrative Health in SE Portland. She specializes in somatic therapy, trauma informed recovery, and helping to heal attachment challenges in relationships. Her work includes treating PTSD, depression, complicated grief, chronic pain, and using story medicine to create transformational change in her clients.

Ravyn has been practicing acupuncture since 2002 and is the owner of Forest Spring Acupuncture in NE Portland. She treats chronic pain and stress disorders including anxiety, insomnia and depression. She also works with sexual and reproductive health issues. She use a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Elements Acupuncture and Hari, a Japanese style of acupuncture, mixing herbs and massage with principles of Neidan (Taoist alchemy) and Jungian psychology to facilitate transformation on a holistic level.
